Our New Skyscraper

Even though I don’t care for Donald Trump, I do like the new Trump Tower built here in Chicago a year or two ago.  It’s a beautifully sited building that fits in well with what’s around it.  This is how it appeared one May morning as our car sped across the Lake Shore Drive bridge.

Interesting that such an ugly personality as Trump was able to build such a glorious-looking structure. The hotel in the building is rated “five stars” by the AAA; that’s the highest rating.

Sam–yes, that is interesting. I’ve heard that the hotel is regarded as one of the best in the country. Curiously, David Brooks noted on the Newshour the other day that many people find Trump inspiring and admirable as an example of upward mobility and the “self-made man.” I really have never thought of him in that fashion. . . Thanks for writing in! Best, SB

This building also looks terrific from Wabash Ave. in the loop.

Peggy–Thank you for that. I’ll have to check it out. Best, SB

As long as “The Donald” stays out of here I am fine with the building……Joe

The Donald has moved from the birther issue to call for inspection of President Obama’s school transcripts. The idea is that his prior performance in school could not have warranted his acceptance at Harvard. . . .The man never rests. He is an unstoppable absurdity. SB
